We Are The Leader In Learning Interventions
Awakening Excellence was founded in 2004 by Dr Mariam Sha in the belief that people have the talent and resources within them to achieve their purpose and contribute fully to organisations. This was the start to her journey of supporting people and organisations to become more engaged and productive.
Over the years the business has evolved to meet the needs of companies, organisations and people, remaining relevant and aligned to current thinking and research in the space of people management and development.
In recent years through Dr Sha’s research and background as an accountant, Awakening Excellence has increasingly focused on the impact of learning interventions on individuals, teams and organisations. Hearing the needs of business, Dr Sha now specialises in calculating the meaningful return on investment in learning interventions. Several of her recent talks at conferences in South Africa and internationally have been on measuring the benefits of learning and development and applying the results for continuous improvement in the business.
Awakening Excellence supports businesses in creating an enabling culture in which people are empowered to discover, pursue and live their purpose thereby contributing positively to their organisation, country and community at large.
Awakening Excellence help its clients create engaged, high performing work cultures through skills development, coaching and business consulting. Our innovative approach combines international best practice, industry expertise, and market intelligence to meet our clients’ ambition.

HOW WE DO IT
Neuro Linguistic Programming is a model that describes how patterns of behaviour are created by individuals using language and physiology.
As a model of human functioning, NLP describes the processes and patterns (programming) that currently govern our mind-body system and the processes and patterns that could enable us to “run our own brain” in new and much more resourceful ways. NLP is about how to change the communication (mapping, movie-making) so that we can experience more resourceful states of mind-and-body (Meta-Coaching FAQ 2010).
An effective technique for coaching, NLP studies our thinking, language and behaviour, and how these can be changed for individual and business success. It is used to improve relationships and build rapport, manage emotions and thoughts and set and achieve goals (Zeus and Skiffington, 2000).
