Awakening Excellence

Awakening Excellence was founded in 2004 by Dr Mariam Sha. In the belief that people have the talent and resources within them to achieve their purpose and contribute more fully to organisations, she started her journey to support people and organisations to be more engaged and productive.

The business of Awakening Excellence has evolved over the years to meet the needs of business, organisations and people to be relevant and aligned to current thinking and research in the space of people management and development.

In recent years, through Dr Sha’s research and background as an accountant, the focus has shifted to the impact of learning interventions on individuals, teams and organisations. Hearing the needs of business, she has started to specialise on calculating the meaningful return on investment of learning interventions. Several of her recent talks at conferences in South Africa and internationally have been on measuring the benefits of learning and development and applying the results for continuous improvement in the business.

The Awakening Excellence Group supports businesses in creating an enabling environment in which people are empowered to discover, pursue and live their purpose, thereby contributing to the organisation, country and community at large.

For over 14 years, Dr Mariam Sha, founder and director of Awakening Excellence, has helped organisations to grow and develop their businesses, driven primarily by the belief that an organisation’s greatest asset is, indeed, its people. As the CEO of Investors in People South Africa, the international best practice Standard.

Dr Sha has worked with over 100’s of organisations, small and large on implementing best practice. With this experience she is able to contribute a wealth of knowledge to organisations.
