I have mixed feelings as I reflect on the year 2020, it holds the realisation of helplessness, adaptability, and the triumph of being human. Covid-19 has wrought havoc and destroyed lives, but it has also given us insights that we would never have imagined.
There is no doubt that it may have been one of the most difficult years of our lives, with change beyond our control; but it has also given us time to better understand ourselves, connect with and value the people we care for.
We really are living through the abnormal and will emerge with a new normal, with our worldview dramatically changed. Hopefully, our best values will remain intact.
Pause to reflect… breathe…
Over the millennia of human existence, despite the onslaught of carnivorous beasts, plagues, pestilence and self-inflicted wars, the human population grew and the human spirit triumphed because we are adaptable and resilient. A vaccine within a year was unheard of. We should be proud of who we are, and what we are capable of. When we work together for a common good, we are not just human, we are superhuman.
Let us begin to change our narrative and give hope to each other for a better and prosperous 2021.
From the Awakening Excellence team, we wish you and your family a safe, and joyous festive season and a healthy, prosperous 2021. And now as we take leave of 2020, I would like you to reflect on Rumi’s poem the Guest House. |
